MYRTLE BEACH AREA, SC (WBTW) – One person is dead after a crash on an exit ramp near Highway 501 and George Bishop Parkway.
The crash involved two vehicles, a Chevy Corvette and a Toyota Minivan, according to Cpl. Sonny Collins, with the SCHP. The crash happened around 1:50 p.m. Monday at the exit ramp from Hwy 501 southbound onto George Bishop Pkwy.
A Chevrolet Corvette was traveling south on Hwy 501 towards George Bishop Pkwy and the driver was driving too fast for conditions when they reached the end of the ramp, Cpl. Collins said. The driver reportedly proceeded through the end of the ramp and drove over a curb.
The driver of the Chevrolet Corvette was not wearing a seat belt and was killed as a result of the crash, Cpl. Collins also said. The occupant of the Toyota Minivan was taken to a local hospital. No information on their condition is available.
On Tuesday, the Horry County Coroner’s Office identified the person who dies at Thaddeus Leshawn Hess, 24, of Myrtle Beach. Hess died of internal injuries at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center.
The U.S. Secret Service said conterfeit currency was found, but was unable to provide any other details.
Horry County Fire Rescue tweeted that around 1:40 p.m. Monday, crews “worked an emergency scene” in the area of Hwy. 501 and George Bishop Parkway. A person was ejected from the vehicle and was taken to Grand Strand Regional Medical Center “with level I trauma injuries.”
Multiple people were also treated for minor injuries, the tweet said.
