MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WBTW)- After a decade of endless searching, FBI agents are still working to solve the case of Brittanee Drexel.
The 17-year-old, originally from Rochester, New York, vanished while staying in Myrle Beach for Spring Break.
“We remain committed to this case, we work it now as diligently as we did on day one.” said Don Wood, Supervisory Special Agent with the FBI.
Drexel was last seen on surveillance camera at the Blue Water Resort on Ocean Boulevard in April of 2009.
“We’ve made progress in the case, recently even, since that time, and recently even, so, it’s sad to say that is the last picture we have of Brittanee is that footage,” said Wood.
In 2016, the FBI announced that Drexel was taken from Myrtle Beach to the Mclellanville area in Charleston County, where she was held for a few days against her will and killed.
No body has been found.
“We still firmly believe that people there and other parts of South Carolina have information that is relevant to this case and we are asking for them to come forward,” said Wood.
No arrests have been made but back in February an inmate said to have previously given information to police, helping them find a suspect, filed a lawsuit saying he has become a target since he started giving them information.
“We still receive credible leads in this case, even 10 years from this happening, and we are still checking every lead down to the bare bone,” said Wood.
