SCRANTON, SC AREA (WBTW) – Two people were arrested after Florence County deputies responded to an alarm call at a business in the Scranton area and a “manhunt of several hours.”
Deputies were dispatched to an alarm call around 3:58 a.m. Monday at a business located on U.S. Highway 52 in the Scranton area, according to a press release from the Florence County Sheriff’s Office. The first deputy arrived about two minutes later and reportedly saw two suspects inside a gated area. The suspects then allegedly fled into a wooded area nearby.
“Deputies quickly set up a perimeter to contain the suspects and the FCSO Special Operations K9 Unit was called to the scene,” the release states. “After a manhunt of several hours, a tracking canine led deputies to the suspects who were hiding in a nearby wooded area. Both suspects were taken into custody without incident.” Investigators allege the suspects “cut the fence to gain access to the business.”
Mark Elmore, 43, of New Zion, SC, and Ronald Anthoniel Cousar, 45, of Alcolu, SC, were arrested by deputies, according to the release. Both are charged with malicious injury to property and are being held at the Florence County Detention Center pending a bond hearing.
