CONWAY, SC (WBTW) – On Monday, the last truck load of coal ash was hauled out from the Grainger plant in Conway.
News13 was there this morning as it was taken away.
“We’re going to return it to wetlands. So, some of it will be planted with the cypress and the oaks, and some of it will just naturally grow back in,” said Tracy Vreeland, Public Relations Specialist, Santee Cooper.
Santee Cooper previously told News13 their pump system was usually checked at night, but it was missed that night and workers later found a line of sledge leading to the river the next morning.
