MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WBTW) –  On Monday, a giant food donation was made in Myrtle Beach.

The Baptist Educational and Missionary Convention of South Carolina distributed more than 10,000 pounds of non-perishable food for the community at Sandy Grove Baptist Church on Carver Street.

News13 spoke with Pastor Fred Johnson.

“It’s not new to Sandy Grove. We’re just that kind of church. We’ve done so many other things to help the community. We’re just happy that we can do it in such a large quantity that we are doing today,” Pastor Johnson said.

This was the first time in the organization’s history that it held a convention in Myrtle Beach. More than 1,200 churches from around the state were represented.
