(KRON) – Uber drivers will shut off their apps at noon today and it’s going to have a huge impact on those who depend on rideshares every day.
Drivers in major cities across the country are striking as they are upset with Uber, saying the company doesn’t pay enough and needs to improve work conditions.
Many people who work for both Uber and Lyft say it’s still not enough.
The strike will happen one day before Uber officially goes public, generating billions of dollars for the company.
The company issued a statement saying drivers are the heart of the company and they will be working with them to improve their experience working for Uber.
A rally will be held at Uber headquarters at noon.
Thousands of drivers will be turning off their app from then until midnight local time, so you may have to use public transportation or even revert back to using a taxi because even some Lyft drivers are joining in the strike today.
However, some drivers have decided to still drive to reap the benefits of the protest, so maybe you’ll be able to catch a ride.
