Murrells Inlet, S.C. (WBTW) — Coastal Carolina junior Zack Taylor carded a first round 68, -4 under par, to place in a tie for second-place overall on the player leaderboard after day one of the NCAA Myrtle Beach Regional held at the TPC at Myrtle Beach golf course in Murrells Inlet, S.C.
Taylor finished the day in a four-way for second-place overall at 68, -4 under par, and is just one stroke of the first round leader in Adrien Dumont de Chassart of Illinois (67, -5).
The first-year Chant opened up his round with back-to-back birdies on holes No. 1 and 2, and then had a great up and down to save par on hole No. 3 to stay at -2 under par before adding another birdie on the par 4 No. 8 to shoot a 33, -3 under par, on the front nine.
Taylor bounced back from a bogey on No. 11, with birdies on holes No. 12 and 14 to go to -4 under par with four holes to play. He would then close out the first round with four-straight pars to shoot a 35, -1 under par, on the back nine to finish with his round of 68.
The Chant golfer is scheduled to tee off round two of the three-day event on Tuesday morning at 10:04 a.m. ET.
