The beer festival returns for their 10th annual event in Florence.

“It’s a good way to try the beers, especially with all the breweries. It’s just nice they have it in town, so people have something to do here and we can socialize. So it’s very good,” said attendee, Chadd Wilson.

Florence Beer Fest was founded by Micky Finn’s Owner, Bryan Holt in 2010 with the simple mission to raise money for a friend in need who was battling breast cancer.Years later, this much anticipated charitable festival has raised over thousands of dollars for local charities and organizations.

“We work with the handicaps, special needs, veterans, horseback and then with the veterans we also provide mentorship, suicide prevention and we help them get back to work,” said organizer Gwendolyn Maddrix.

More than 2,000 people attend the event and over 40 vendors prepare their most popular food, and different type of craft beers.

“It feels good to be here. I enjoy getting out and meeting people in the community. This year we’re introducing the jalapeno shooter and we like to have fun with it,” said vendor, Maury Jordan.

Many said, the fact the money helps veterans or people who need it, is what makes participating worth it for locals.

“There’s a lot of them that are homeless right now and they are really struggling and need help. So we’re going to give them that help today,” said Maddrix.
