CONWAY, SC (WBTW) – Three defendants named in a lawsuit filed against the Horry County Police department have been dismissed from the suit.

Court documents filed this week show Scott Rutherford, William Squires, and Dale Buchanan were dismissed without costs and without prejudice. The lawsuit was filed in 2016 by “Jane Doe 4.”

The original suit by Doe 4 was filed against Horry County, the Horry County Police Department, former police chief Saundra Rhodes, Rutherford, Squires, and Buchanan.

Doe 4 is one of the victims that accused former HCPD officer Troy Allen Large of using his job to sexually abuse them. Large died last year. The lawsuit alleged the defendants didn’t do anything to stop Large from the abuse.
