MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WBTW) – Police are accusing a man from Columbia with shoplifting at several stores at Coastal Grand Mall.
According to arrest warrants, Seighbee Bill Bennett, Jr., is accused of shoplifting at Dillard’s and Dick’s Sporting Goods on Monday.
The warrants say Bennett, Jr. was seen on camera trying to steal a shirt from Dillard’s. Less than two hours later, the warrants say officers responded to Dick’s Sporting Goods where a witness saw Bennett stealing items.
According to arrest warrants, Bennett, Jr. was hiding a golf club and a North Face bag. The witness also pointed out a vehicle Bennett, Jr. had allegedly placed stolen items into. Officers had the car towed and searched. The warrant says more than $1,000 of items were stolen from Dick’s Sporting Goods. The warrant also says more than $400 of stolen items from Bed, Bath and Beyond were found in the car.
The arrest warrants also say Bennett, Jr. tried to “avoid identification by law enforcement” by giving them someone else’s name. The warrant also states that Bennett may have committed identity fraud.
At this time, Bennett, Jr. is facing several shoplifting charges and identity fraud to avoid detection by law enforcement.
