A 19-year-old has been charged with murder, among other charges, according to the Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office.

The department said Friday night that Theophilus Xavier Berry is charged with murder, armed robbery, and possession of a weapon during commission of a violent crime in connection with a missing persons case.

On Tuesday, the sheriff’s office received a report of a missing person: 18-year-old Ja’Quan Collins of Georgetown. Through an extensive investigation, the department says it was determined that Collins was likely the victim of a homicide.

On Friday, the sheriff’s office took Berry, of Maryville, into custody.

The investigation is ongoing.
