NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WBTW) – The person charged with a deadly hit-and-run waited ten hours before calling police, according to arrest warrants.
Officials in North Myrtle Beach say Ginger Horton was driving the car that caused a deadly crash involving a motorcycle on Friday. It happened on U.S. 17 near 48th Avenue South, near Duplin Winery.
The driver of the bike, William Hogue, was killed. Hogue’s passenger suffered severe road rash and a broken leg, according to incident reports from North Myrtle Beach police officers.
The surviving passenger was able to crawl away from the crash to the sidewalk, according to the incident report. She told police the driver of a black Nissan Altima turned left in front of the motorcycle from a median-only turn lane. She also told police the driver left the scene without calling police or helping the victims. Neither Hogue nor the passenger were wearing helmets during the crash.
One of the officers collected pieces of a vehicle from the sidewalk near Duplin Winery, according to an incident report.
According to the arrest warrants and an incident reports, Ginger Horton called police 10 hours after the crash and identified herself as the driver of the Nissan Altima. Police responded to her location and placed her under arrest.
Horton is charged with: Hit & run, duties of driver involved in accident with death, and Hit & run, duties of driver involved in accident with great bodily injury.
