MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WBTW) – A murder suspect was found on the victim’s front porch smoking a cigarette when officers arrived at the Myrtle Beach home, according to a police report.

Horry County Police officers were called to a home on Southbury Drive Saturday night around 10:30 p.m. after a woman called to report a shooting. When officers arrived, the victim’s neighbor, who is a Sergeant with the police department, was already on scene and said the victim did not have a pulse.

Horry County Deputy Coroner Tamara Willard identified the victim as Charles Yobak, 62. Yobak died from multiple gunshot wounds, confirms Willard.

Responding officers found the alleged killer, who is the victim’s son, on the front porch of the home when they responded to the shooting. The police report says the suspect, 35-year-old Christopher Yobak, was smoking a cigarette when officers took him into custody.

According to Krystal Dotson with the Horry County Police Department, Christopher Yobak is charged with possession of a weapon during a violent crime and murder in the death of his father, Charles Yobak.

Police have not commented on a motive for the shooting. Christopher Yobak is being held at the J. Rueben Long Detention Center without bail.
