NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WBTW) – A special ceremony was held Thursday for a team who helped deliver a baby boy during the winter storm a couple of weeks ago.
Jennifer Millan says her water broke at home and she and her family only made it a few miles down the road before realizing she would not make it to the hospital in time.
News13 was there in North Myrtle Beach as first responders loaded the mother into the ambulance on January 4.
“We just wanted a chance to meet up with them again and tell them how much we appreciate them and how grateful we are that they helped us bring him into the world healthy and me – take care of me too. They just did an amazing job. We couldn’t ask for better people,” said Millan.
On Thursday, the team that came to her rescue on the side of the road was given stork pins from the family and from Grand Strand Medical Center as a way of saying thanks.
“I can’t describe the feeling that I have for being able to give birth to a child and being able to help this family out during a crisis. It’s amazing,” said paramedic Timothy Smith.
Mateo Mauricio Millan was born at 7lbs and 6oz, making Millan and her husband parents of three children.
