TIMMONSVILLE, S.C. (WBTW) – The Florence School District 4 Board met Tuesday night for the first time this year.
Tuesday night was Dr. Rechel Anderson’s first meeting at Superintendent.
Two weeks ago the board held a workshop with its Certified Public Accountant (CPA) to discuss where the district stands financially. Dr. Anderson said it’s unclear how much money the district actually has, but will always put the students first.
“One of the things that we are working towards is making sure that we are looking at our district-wide initiatives and we are truly monitoring our student learning at all schools,” Dr. Anderson said Tuesday night. “Teachers are working very diligently to make certain that we are working to improve the performance of our students.”
The board voted to pay certain employees stipends, and after executive session, the board voted to hire a new attorney.
“The one thing that we will do well here in Florence four is that we will follow federal and state guidelines,” Dr. Anderson said in her Superintendent’s Report. “No longer can anyone come to Florence Four and just get a paycheck we’re going to hold you accountable for what you get every day.”
Dr. Anderson declined to speak with News 13 about the votes made during the meeting. She said the district’s audit report will be presented to the public on Jan. 30th at 11:30 a.m.
