The windy weather didn’t stop dozens of people from gathering outside and shucking all the oysters they could eat, for a good cause.

The Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce held its annual Oyster Roast on Saturday at Hot Fish Club in Murrells Inlet. This was the tenth year the Chamber held the fundraiser there. All the proceeds of the oyster roast go to the Substitutes for Santa program. Substitutes for Santa gives about 150 children in need, in the Horry County area, a holiday experience complete with Christmas shopping. “We have over five hundred people that attend today. It’s just a great event. Entertainment, all you can eat oysters,” said Kema Parsley with the Chamber of Commerce. “It means so much, just the community coming together and helping out for a great cause. It’s just heartwarming to me.”
