MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WBTW) – The City of Myrtle Beach recently added two full-time code enforcement officers to regulate properties east of Kings Highway in the downtown area.
The two employees are tasked with looking for code violations and notifying property owners of any infringements. The city also announced, in conjunction with the code enforcement officers, more city cameras will be installed to “monitor and identify any illegal dumping.”
In a recent blog, city officials identified the 11 areas where the new cameras will be positioned.

- 3rd Avenue North and Flagg Street
- 7th Avenue North and Flagg Street
- 9th Avenue North and Withers Drive
- 15th Avenue North and Withers Drive
- 18th Avenue North and Withers Drive
- 73rd Avenue North and Ocean Boulevard
- 15th Avenue South and Yaupon Drive
- 18th Avenue South and Cassandra Lane
- 23rd Avenue South and Ocean Boulevard
- 26-27th Avenue South Alleyway
The city says “this new effort is intended to be aggressive and proactive, and property owners are on notice that they will be held accountable.”
The code enforcement officers launched the new positions with a 30-day courtesy violation phase, letting business owners know of violations without imposing fees or penalties. Once the probationary period is over, property owners will have from 24 hours up to 30 days, depending on the violation, to achieve compliance. The city confirms a municipal ordinance summons will be issued for non-compliance.
