A group of Coastal Carolina University students are sharing their passion for fishing with local children, for free.
The students created a club called Carolina Kids Fish. They invited children of all experience levels to fish at Thompson Farm in Conway on Sunday. The organization provided all the tackle, bait, reels, and rods. Students also provided free fishing lessons to anyone who needed them. Carolina Kids Fish aims to hold free fishing sessions several times a semester. President Frances Bozak said they want to help kids get off their phones and computers, and out into nature. “We love it. We go to fish all the time so we just wanted to make sure the younger generation has the opportunity to go out and fish for free,” she said. “The equipment can get really expensive so we want to make sure that they can start in a way that’s free and easy for the family.”
