BENNETTSVILLE, SC (WBTW) – The FBI visited the Marlboro County Sheriff’s Office last week to recognize investigators for their work on the Ella and Iyana Lowery case.

The sheriff’s office was called to investigate the murder of Ella Lowery and the disappearance of her daughter, Iyana, in May of 2017. On May 14, the child’s body was found in McColl and the sheriff’s office arrested Jejauncey Fernando Harrington of Bennettsville, for two counts of murder, armed robbery, and kidnapping in connection with their deaths.

According to Lt. Trevor Murphy of the Marlboro County Sheriff’s Office, FBI agents came down to Marlboro County on February 22, specifically to congratulate Sheriff Charles B Lemon and his team for the actions they took during the double homicide case last year.

Sheriff Lemon was joined by Solicitor Will Rogers and Deputy Solicitor Kernard Redmond from the 4th Circuit Solicitor’s Office, Agent Jamie Seales with the South Carolina Attorney General’s Office, and Lt. Roxanne Bethea with the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division. Also receiving commendations and pictured with Sheriff Lemon are Inv. Josh White, Inv. Walter Baker, Lt. Trevor Murphy, and Captain Sara Alberri. Former investigator Will Horne, former Marlboro County Sheriff Fred Knight, Sgt Warren Mccall with the Marlboro County Sheriff’s Office, and SLED Agent Kristina Gainey were also recognized.
