A Pee Dee man pleaded guilty to firearm and drug trafficking charges in federal court.
U.S. Attorney Beth Drake says Tyrez Johnson, 31, of Hartsville, entered a guilty plea to charges of possession with intent to distribute and distribution of cocaine base, and felon in possession of a firearm.
Investigators say Johnson’s arrest stemmed from a 2007 investigation into drug sales in Hartsville. Agents say they purchased cocaine base from Johnson, who was also found in possession of a revolver at the time of his arrest.
Johnson faces up to 20 years in prison and a $1,000,000 fine.
The case was investigated by agents of the Hartsville Police Department, the Darlington County Sherriff’s Office and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
