3rd annual Mac-N-Cheese Cook-off raises money for kids to surf

Dozens of local chefs cooked up their best mac and cheese recipes for a good cause on Sunday.

Almost 3,000 attended the third annual Mac-N-Cheese Cook-off for the Surf Dreams Foundation. The fundraiser was at Sara J’s Seafood Restaurant in Garden City. Organizers say the cook-off is the Surf Dreams Foundation’s biggest fundraiser of the year. The organization strives to make surfing accessible for all children. Surf Dreams will use the proceeds of the fundraiser to purchase surfing equipment and fund trips to surfing competitions. “This fundraiser alone will get us through the entire summer,” said Surf Dreams Executive Director Phil Jackson. “Amazing community event, and everybody comes together. And we’re raising money for the Surf Dreams Foundation and giving the community something to do.”
