The burn ban in effect for Horry County has been lifted Monday afternoon.
According to the Horry County Fire Rescue Twitter account the ban initially went into effect Saturday morning.
According to Capt. Mark Nugent of Horry County Fire Rescue, Horry Government officials initiated the ban for unincorporated areas of the county.
Capt. Nugent says the ban is due to low humidity and extreme wind speeds which pose and increase risk for fires. Any and all outdoor burning, included permitted burns, are strictly prohibited during the ban, and those involved in any open burning would be in violation of the law.
