GEORGETOWN, SC (WBTW) – Agents with the 15th Circuit DEU say a man already on bond for drug trafficking was arrested for distributing heroin last week.

The release says Akeem Earl Moore of Georgetown was charged for distribution of heroin, distribution within half a mile of a school or park, trafficking heroin second offense, possession with intent to distribute marijuana and bringing contraband to county prison.

The arrest came after a month long investigation while Moore was already out on bond for trafficking heroin, possession with intent to distribute marijuana and carrying a handgun.

On March 6, agents stopped Moore driving a rental vehicle on South Fraser Street in Georgetown and found a large amount of cash in his pocket and a digital scale in the vehicle.

According to the press release from the 15th Circuit DEU, investigators smelled marijuana but they were unable to find it until Moore was taken into the Georgetown County Detention Center where he attempted to discard a bag containing several grams. Moore also tried to hide another bag that had more than 4 grams of heroin but agents were able to recover it before Moore could destroy it.
