MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WBTW) – Just one day after announcing his resignation from the Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce, Brad Dean confirms he will lead destination marketing efforts in Puerto Rico.

An announcement from R4 Communications Strategies, Inc. says Dean has been appointed CEO of the “newly established Puerto Rico Destination Marketing Organization.”

“Brad has an impressive track record of revenue growth, destination marketing, product development and community-building, both in the public and private sectors,” stated Jon Borschow, chairman of the DMO. “He is a proactive and influential leader with nearly 25 successful years in the travel, tourism, meetings, and hospitality industry, and we are delighted to have him as our CEO.”

The marketing organization is a private, not-for-profit group established in March 2017 “through bi-partisan legislation that provides a $25 million annual investment to manage all global marketing, sales and promotion of Puerto Rico.”

Dean announced his departure from the Myrtle Beach chamber during a press conference Tuesday.

Dean has served as president and CEO of the MBACC since 2003. He also has two federal appointments–on the National Advisory Committee on Travel and Tourism Infrastructure and on the US Travel and Tourism Advisory Board.

The press release distributed Wednesday notes that Dean is expected to begin his new role in Puerto Rico in late April.
