FLORENCE, SC (WBTW) – A school crossing guard was hit by a vehicle in Florence Thursday morning, according to South Carolina Highway Patrol.

Cpl. Sonny Collins with highway patrol says the crossing guard was working outside the All Saints Episcopal Day School Thursday around 8 a.m. when the crash happened. Because the crossing guard is a city employee, highway patrol will investigate the case, Cpl. Collins explains.

The victim was taken to McLeod Hospital, but the extent of the injuries is unknown at this time.

Cpl. Collins didn’t immediately know if the driver will be charged.
