BENNETTSVILLE, SC (WBTW) – Bennettsville police found a woman inside a home on Windham Street Sunday night who had been shot, but no arrests have been made, police say.
Wednesday night, police released photos of a dark car seen in the area around the same time the murder was initially reported. The Bennettsville police department is asking for help from the public identifying the car.
According to Lt. Larry Turner with Bennettsville police, officers were called to 224 Windham Street around 11 p.m. Sunday night. Officers found a 23-year-old woman dead from an apparent gunshot wound. The woman was identified as Vernika Townsend.
Lt. Turner says there were three other people inside the home who were not injured. No arrests have been made and SLED is assisting in the investigation.
