Runners and walkers hit the streets in the Myrtle Beach Tunnel to Towers 5K run and walk at Grand Park in the Market Common.

The event is one of many across the nation that were created to honor New York City firefighter Stephen Siller. Stiller lost his life on September 11, 2001 after strapping on his gear and running through the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel to the Twin Towers.

The race honors all those who lost their lives on September 11, 2001, and to support local first responders and military. All proceeds from the event goes to the Stephan Siller Foundation, which helps families of disabled or deceased military, fire department, police department, or other emergency service personnel’s families.
