PALM Charter High School in Myrtle Beach invited the community to see its latest creation.
Students with the Palmetto Academy for Learning Motorsports recently built a race car. They displayed the car at Broadway Grand Prix on Sunday.
The school as also partnered with Lazarus Entertainment Group, which sponsored the race car and helped fund its construction.
PALM Charter Principal Avery Moore raced the car for first time two weeks ago. He said the partnership with Lazarus Entertainment is critical to growing the motorsport program, especially since PALM Charter is fundraising for the new building it plans to move into in August.
“Quite frankly, everybody’s excited. There’s just a lot of energy that’s created when you have stock car racing. It grabs people and then we’re able to use that as a tool to educate kids,” Moore said.
PALM Charter High School is the only motorsport high school in the country.
