Local educational and community organizations helped young fathers learn how to further their education and develop careers.

A Father’s Place and Horry Georgetown Technical College teamed up with the South Carolina Centers for Fathers and Families to host Dads 2 Grads on Saturday. The free event was catered to fathers who are unemployed or with low-wage jobs.

Dads 2 Grads was held on HGTC’s campus. It included seminars on adult education programs, resume workshops, job applications, and entrepreneurship. This was the second year of the Dads 2 Grads event.

“You don’t stop because you’re a young father. You continue towards a goal. And we want them to become more educated so they can get better paying jobs and take better care of their families,” said Sandra Gowans, employability coordinator for A Father’s Place.
