MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WBTW)- With 30,000 people expected to come to CCMF, Myrtle Beach Police have rolled extra safety measures and that includes their new mobile command center.

Myrtle Beach Police designed the command center.  They have a camera on top that can pan titlt and zoom.

Police can use the views to see movement in the crowd and where they may need crowd control or a new traffic pattern. They can even get a close up shot of the main stage, but there’s a lot more inside the command center.

It acts as their communication hub. Dispatchers have all the same software systems they have in their dispatch room. They also have access to see all 800 city cameras to also keep their eyes on areas surrounding the music fest.

In previous years myrtle beach police had to use SLED’s command center. This is the second event they’ve used this and police say it’s a game changer

“Able to identify what areas have additional needs and maybe a different traffic pattern, maybe fire and EMS, for medical services, it’s very critical for us to have this to improve our communications,” said Lt. Joey Crosby.

Police are urging people if you see something to say something ,and all you have to do is call 843-918–INFO and your call goes to the command center.
