MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WBTW) – Myrtle Beach police responded to a fatal crash on Bypass 17, south of Harrelson Blvd. Thursday night.
Horry County Deputy Coroner Darris Fowler said one person died on scene. The victim is identified as 41-year-old Derek Medeiros, who is from the Myrtle Beach area. Medeiros died from trauma caused by a motor vehicle accident. He was not wearing a seatbelt.
Only one car was involved in the crash.
The southbound lanes of Bypass 17 were blocked because of the incident. All southbound traffic on Bypass 17 was diverted onto Harrelson Blvd.
Myrtle Beach Police Department Traffic Unit is investigating the cause of the crash.
