MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WBTW) – Horry County Fire Rescue crews responded to a crash involving a vehicle and a tractor Monday morning.
According to a tweet from the department, crews were called to the northbound lanes of Highway 31 near mile marker 18 for a report of an overturned vehicle. The first units confirmed the crash involved a vehicle and “farm machinery.”
South Carolina Highway Patrol reports the northbound lanes of Hwy 31 just past US-501 were blocked for more than an hour as emergency crews worked to clear the scene.
Officials say when they arrived two people were out of the vehicle and the vehicle was on fire. Crews extinguished the vehicle fire and confirm two people were taken to the hospital in critical condition.
It’s unknown at this time what caused the crash.
