BENNETTSVILLE, SC (WBTW) – A man is in jail after allegedly sexually assaulting a child in Bennettsville nearly four years ago, and then again on Thursday, police say.

According to Lt. Larry Turner with the Bennettsville Police Department, James David Simmons is charged with three counts of criminal sexual conduct with a minor second degree.

The first two incidents occurred in the summer and fall of 2014 and the third occurred on Thursday, all within Bennettsville city limits, Lt. Turner confirms.

This case is still an ongoing investigation, and more charges may be filed in South Carolina and North Carolina, adds Lt. Turner.
