NEW HAVEN, Connecticut (WCBD) – The U.S. Marshals and the New Haven Police Department are asking for the public’s help in locating and arresting Tramaine Marquise Poole, 42, who is wanted in the May 31 fatal shooting death of Tyekqua Nesbitt, as well as an arrest warrant for a shooting incident that occurred on May 7 in New Haven when Poole attempted to kill his estranged wife.
Both incidents are believed connected.
At 10:16 p.m., on May 31, New Haven Police responded to a reported shooting on the corner of Wilmot Road and Wintergreen Avenue, according to Public Information Officer Supervisory Deputy Brian O’Neill.
When officers arrived they discovered Nesbitt, a 28-year-old female, had been fatally shot in her car. The victim’s two young children, ages 6 and 11, were in the car with her when she was shot, but were unharmed, according to the report.
Detectives believe the victim was targeted by the shooter and have identified Poole as the shooter, O’Neill stated.
Poole has ties to Fitchburg, Massachusetts; Jersey City, New Jersey; New York City; North Carolina and South Carolina; Lancaster, Pennsylvania; Philadelphia; Arizona and Georgia, O’Neill added.
The U.S. Marshals have been asked to assist in locating Poole, who is 5 feet 11 inches tall, weighs approximately 160 pounds, is a black male with a medium complexion, and has short black hair. Poole has tattoos on both arms and may be wearing a dreadlock wig as a disguise.
The U.S. Marshals are offering a cash award of up to $5,000, and the New Haven Police Department has been authorized an additional $25,000 for information leading to the direct arrest of Poole, according to the report.
