MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WBTW) – The popular ride-sharing company Uber can now deliver food from restaurants right to you in the city.

The company launched its Uber Eats service in the Myrtle Beach area Thursday. More than 40 Myrtle Beach restaurants have joined Uber Eats so far.

Blueberry’s Grill is one of those restaurants. Evi Spaho owns it on North Kings Highway.

He says he’s served plenty of customers in his first year-and-a-half.

“Business has been really, really good,” Spaho said. “Locals do really love Blueberry’s a lot. We decided to open another location in North Myrtle Beach.”

Blueberry’s has specialty drinks, as well as plenty of breakfast and lunch options, but Spaho’s restaurant couldn’t deliver until now with Uber Eats.

It’s a separate app run by Uber and the same drivers can also choose to make money by delivering food.

“This is something new and I think locals will appreciate it a lot, because if they’re going to have a home party or something like that, they can just place their order on the Uber Eats app and we’ll deliver it for them,” Spaho said.

Uber Eats is another on-demand food service arriving in the Grand Strand. The grocery delivery app Shipt launched in the Myrtle Beach area in May.

Uber says the average delivery time is about 35 minutes. The app has menus for restaurants and allows you to choose from different types of food. You can even schedule deliveries days in advance.

Spaho says joining Uber Eats allows him to serve food to customers he may never see in the restaurant.

“It will open the doors for a lot of tourists that stay on the beach,” he said. “They can actually place an order through the app and we can deliver.”

Uber is also offering some discounts to celebrate the launch of Uber Eats.

Use the promo code “MYRTLEBEACHEATS” to get a $5 discount on your first order. The promo code “IWANTEATS” gives you $5 off your first two meals.

The Uber Eats app is free to download on the Apple or Google Play stores.
