MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WBTW) – Horry County Coroner Robert Edge hopes the public can help him locate a Florence man’s family.

Rickey Lee McClellon, 56, came to Myrtle Beach more than 10 days ago for vacation. During his visit, McClellon suffered a stroke and was taken to the hospital, where he later died, confirms the coroner’s office.

Edge says the Florence man was in Myrtle Beach on a gambling trip, according to those with McClellon at the time of his death. The coroner’s office says the female acquaintance with McClellon left, and gave the coroner no information on how to reach the man’s next of kin. Edge is asking for the community’s help to locate McClellon’s family and have his body transported to Florence for a proper burial.

The coroner did seek help from Florence law enforcement agencies, but they were unable to provide any information. McClellon has two known Florence addresses, one on Westford Road, and the other on Coker Street. If you know McClellon, or his family, call Horry County Coroner Robert Edge at 843-915-5110.
