The Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office is investigating after a woman was shot outside the Sandbar in Pawleys Island early Sunday morning.
According to Jason Lesley, Public Information Officer for GCSO, she was shot outside the bar then moved to a Circle K nearby.
A police report says deputies were called to the area of Ocean Highway and Petigru Drive around 3 a.m. for a report of shots fired. While responding, deputies were notified that a victim of a gunshot wound was found in the parking lot of the Circle K gas station, located at 10459 Ocean Highway. Deputies then responded to both locations.
Upon arriving at the gas station, deputies found a 32-year-old female, from Georgetown, sitting in a chair in the parking lot, the report also says. A small gunshot wound was found on the woman’s left hip.
A 26-year-old male victim, from Georgetown, told deputies, he was sitting in the driver’s seat of a car outside the bar when the shooting happened. This victim also says a 23-year-old female, from Conway, was sitting in the front passenger seat and the victim who was shot was standing outside the car near the front passenger window at the time of the shooting. He also says when shots were fired, people started running, the victim who was shot got into the car, and they drove away. The 23-year-old victim had a scrape on her left forearm that was bleeding, so he says they stopped at the gas station to clean the cut up and that was when the 32-year-old victim realized she had beem shot. This victim was taken to Grand Strand Medical Center. No information on her condition is available.
According to the report, a green Chevy Equinox was taken into evidence. The vehicle had several gun shot marks on the hood and windshield and a flat tire on the front driver side.
Deputies at the scene of the shooting found several spent ammo casings on the ground.
Two other vehicles were found at the scene with damage from the shooting, the report says. A vehicle with Georgia plates had a shattered driver side window with damage to the door frame, a bullet hole in the roof of the vehicle, and a bullet hole on the rear driver side door. A vehicle with SC plates had damage to the windshield from a bullet.
A nearby business was also damaged during the shooting. The plywood roofing, an outside wall, and a rear door were damaged by bullets, according to the release. The bullet that struck the rear door is believed by deputies to have traveled through the door and into the business, where it damaged walls and other door frames.
The value of the damages to the business and vehicles unknown.
No information on suspects is available.
