A McColl man has been arrested on charges “connected to the exploitation of a minor,” the Marlboro County Sheriff’s Office says. 

A press release from the MCSO says 54-year-old George Anthony Lewellen was arrested on Wednesday by Internet Crimes Against Children Taskforce investigators with the Attorney General’s Office. The Marlboro County Sheriff’s Office and a member from the state’s ICAC Task Force assisted with the arrest. 

Investigators say Lewellen “distributed and possessed files of child pornography,” the release states. 

According to the release, Lewellen is charged with two counts of second degree sexual exploitation of a minor and five counts of third degree sexual exploitation of a minor. 

This case will be prosecuted by the Attorney General’s Office.
