JACKSONVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) – A military police officer from Camp Lejeune was arrested Tuesday at the Raleigh Durham Airport after deputies said he had sex with a 15-year-old female.
Jairo Palacio, 42, was charged with statutory rape of a child less than 15 years of age.
On August 3, the Onslow County Sheriff’s Office responded to a residence located on Dawson Cabin Road in reference to a report of a sexual assault on a minor.
Detectives from the Sheriff’s Office Special Victims Unit conducted an investigation.
An investigation showed that Palacio had sex with a 15-year-old female while at the family home.
Detectives said that Palacio is a family member of the victim.
Palacio was out of the country when the investigation concluded.
On Tuesday, the Raleigh Durham Airport Police arrested him at RDU.
Palacio was transported back to Onslow County.
He was sent to the Onslow County Detention Center under a $100,000 bond.
Detectives said that Palacio works as a military police officer at PMO on Camp Lejeune.
