The Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an armed robbery in the Pawleys Island area.
According to a post on the office’s Facebook page, two people were walking along Waverly Road around 3 p.m. on Wednesday when they were approached by someone on a bicycle carrying a firearm and demanding money. The victims said the suspect left on the bicycle and described the suspect as a tall, thin black male.
The post also says the victims reported the robbery when they returned home about an hour later. There were no injuries and investigation is ongoing.
A press release from the office on Thursday afternoon says one suspect is in custody. Herbert Lee Greene, Jr., 22, of Pawleys Island, was arrested on Thursday without incident. He is charged with armed robbery and possession of a weapon violation. He was taken to the Georgetown County Detention Center, where he will await a bond hearing.
