Leslie’s Hope is helping people who are battling with mental health issues and suicidal thoughts.
The founder, Ginny Edwards , said it’s not easy to help everyone because there’s not a lot of resources.
“You would think that there’s some government help out there or some other kind of help but there’s nothing. I mean nothing,” said Edwards.
Ginny started Leslie’s Hope back in 2016 after her daughter committed suicide.
Edwards says Leslie suffered panic attacks, OCD and was later diagnosed with bi-polar disorder.
“Medication and things would help for a very short while, but then they would have the opposite effect and make her become suicidal even more so,” said Ginny.
The non-profit organization has helped 3 people who have been on the verge of taking their own life.
“They felt like they had no hope, no help, nowhere to turn but we were able to get them counseling,” said Edwards.
The family says with all the out of pocket expenses on treatments and medicine for Leslie, nothing worked.
They believe more funds are needed to help people who are suffering.
“You can’t wait a week, sometimes you can’t wait an hour. When they’re in crisis, it’s immediate, it’s now,” said Ginny.
