Suspects accused of killing a man in a Longs Food Lion parking lot, stealing a car, and committing several robberies in Horry County are also connected to a robbery in North Carolina, police say.
Chadbourn Police Chief Anthony Spivey says two males wearing a bandana-type mask armed with handguns arrived at the Quikmart in Chadbourn around 11:20 p.m. on Wednesday.
According to Spivey, the suspects came in to the town on Highway 410 South and went to the store. The two suspects entered the store, snatched the cash register off the counter ripping the wires out, and then robbed the four people in the store at gunpoint.
Chadbourn police say the suspects were in the same gray vehicle stolen from Horry County and the description of the suspects match those in the Horry County crimes, according to Spivey.
Chadbourn police are investigating and working with the Horry County Police Department.
Captain John Harrelson with the Horry County Police Department says officers were called to the Food Lion, located at 110 E. Hwy 9 in Longs, on Wednesday night for a carjacking and deadly shooting. When they arrived, officers were told that a man with a gun confronted a store employee in the parking lot and demanded the employee unlock the grocery store.
At the same time, two other armed men confronted a person sitting in a car in the Food Lion parking lot. When the driver attempted to get away from the gunmen, the suspects fired shots into the vehicle, killing the driver.
The armed men then stole a grey in color Nissan Altima with license SC PFP 140 and fled the scene, says Capt. Harrelson. A short time later two other armed robberies occurred in the Loris area – one at the Carolina Inn in Loris, and the other of an individual broken down on Fox Bay Rd.
Harrelson states that three suspects are wanted for the crimes in Horry County while Spivey says only two men were involved in the NC robbery.
