HORRY CO., SC (WBTW)- After a multi-state violent crime spree, including several armed robberies and murder, Horry County Police Chief Joseph Hill said they have all hands on deck working with local and federal agencies.
He also has a message for those responsible.
“Those footsteps you hear in the night, those doors closing, you never know it could be law enforcement and pretty soon it will be and we’ll find a nice place for you for the rest of your life,” said Hill.
Hill said the crimes started in August with an armed robbery at Nacho Hippo in North Myrtle Beach. Fast forward to last Wednesday with an attempted bank robbery in Green Sea at the United Community Bank.
Police said the armed suspects took off and headed towards Loris. Later that night, officers were called to a carjacking and murder at the Food Lion in Longs, and in less than an hour police believe those three men were responsible for two more armed robberies in Loris and another in Chadbourn, North Carolina.
“We are looking at each individual crime that was committed as a single event and that’s the best way to investigate these cases, and through that determination if there is a connection we will connect those dots,” said Hill.
Right now, police are not connecting the crimes in North Myrtle Beach and Green Sea to the others, but it’s a possibility they haven’t ruled out.
This past Saturday, a father and son were found dead at a home in Conway off Highway 19.
The Horry County Coroner’s Office identified the victims as Robert Ford Jr. and Robbie Ford. Horry County police are investigating the case as a homicide.
WBTW News13 asked if this incident could be connected to the other recent crimes.
“We’re looking at all these cases individually, but could they be connected? Sure.,” said Hill.
Chief Hill also said more than 100 additional officers were in Horry County over the weekend. Horry County police are working with agencies across the county and in North Carolina, including the DEA, ATF, FBI, U.S. Marshals, and the Secret Service.
“Everyone is chimed in to include the United States Secret Service which traditionally doesn’t enter into local criminal cases, but they have technology to that we can use that they have offered up,” said Chief Hill.
Horry County police are asking for the public’s help. If you have any information, call 843-915-TIPS.
