Horry County Police have identified a suspect in a Loris business robbery and home invasion.

Captain John Harrelson, with the HCPD, says Dock Raymond Ward has been identified as the person who broke into a Sunny Stop and a residence in the 1500 block of Highway 701 in Loris on Sunday. Ward is in custody on unrelated charges in North Carolina and will be extradited back to Horry County to face the following charges: first degree burglary, two counts of kidnapping, malicious damage more than $2,000, armed robbery, second degree burglary, grand larceny, and malicious damage.

An incident report states officers were called to a home on Highway 701 North in the Loris area around 10:15 p.m. Sunday night. The homeowners called police to report a man peering into the windows of the home. The man walked around to the back door of the house and kicked in the door. Once inside, the suspect pulled a gun on the victim and demanded cash and car keys, the report states.

About 20 minutes after the Loris home was burglarized, officers were called to the Sunny Stop, located at 1530 Highway 701 North. Officers en route to the scene were told the security cameras at the business had stopped working and an alarm was activated at the store.

The report says the business was burglarized but it did not detail what, if anything, was stolen.
