A beachgoer is in the hospital after having a medical emergency in the waters off Myrtle Beach. 

According to Lt. Jonathan Evans with Myrtle Beach Fire Rescue, lifeguards were alerted to a man in the water at around 1:30 Saturday. The went into the water to rescue the man. 

Evans says Myrtle Beach Fire Rescue Ocean Rescue units responded to assist. The man was in cardiac arrest at the time and rescuers began CPR. He was then taken to the hospital for treatment. 

No word on his condition.
