The McKnights opened their doors to all the fans attending the Darlington Raceway for the past 45 years.
“This is a lot of fun, long time tradition,” said a regular customer, Gary Allen.
On Harry Byrd Road, Tammy and Tony McKnight charge campers to park on their property.
The business was originally Tony’s dad but the couple picked up the tradition a few years ago. They said they have one family who has been parking in the same lot for the past 45 years.
“The campers that see you here have been coming here for 25 years, 15 years, and 20 years,” said Tammy McKnight.
The couple let about 50 vehicle in and 25 RVs, charging them anywhere between $20-$300. On Saturday, they filled up their lot with campers and new incomers from different cities.
“We love it and it’s family owned. They’re great people. It’s a lot of fun for us,” said Mark Moore from Myrtle Beach.
One family from McCormick, South Carolina said they reserved their spots for next year. The McKnights plan to expand their amenities in the next couple of years by adding showers, washers, and dryers for their customers.
“This is home, there’s no leaving here,” said Tammy.
The family wants to continue the tradition by passing it to their kids and grandchildren.
