For some people in Horry County, the impending hurricane is all too familiar.

Some people living in the Rosewood community in the Socastee area say the approaching storm has stirred some feelings of panic. The Rosewood neighborhood was hit pretty hard during Hurricane Matthew. The neighborhood experienced approximately three feet of flood waters as a result of the storm. Many homes in the area endured serious flood damage accordingly.

Some residents say they may begin boarding their homes in the next couple of days if the storm continues to head towards the Grand Strand. Terri Straka has lived in the Rosewood community for almost 30 years. She said the flooding after Hurricane Matthew taught her and her neighbors to always be prepared.

“You always have supplies, medical supplies, food, water, things like that, gas on hand ready to go. There is some stress and worry with any storm that comes into the area,” said Straka.
