As Hurricane Florence continues to move through the area, Dillon County officials gave an update on storm and safety conditions on Friday afternoon.

According to a press release from the Dillon County Disaster Preparedness Agency, Dillon County administrators and operations say outside agencies from the upstate of South Carolina and other states have been requested to assist local authorities.

Officials are asking residents to remember that Hurricane Florence is still a dangerous storm with heavy rain producing areas of flooding and high winds, damaging power lines, causing power outages, and downed trees.

  • DO NOT drive through flooded roads. Residents are encouraged to stay in your home, maintain awareness to present condition, avoid downed trees as they could have power lines in them, and avoid walking in puddles.
