SOCASTEE, SC (WBTW)- Flooding is making it’s way to Horry County, and people in one Socastee neighborhood prepared for the worst.

People in the Rosewood community were hit pretty hard during Hurricane Matthew, but this time they aren’t taking any chances.

People in Rosewood are getting out before flood waters come in.

“It was a day like this two years ago, and we thought it was all just rumors and next thing you know we’re getting my wife’s wedding dress out in a boat,” said Daniel Autz.

The Rosewood community is seeing deja vu after Hurricane Matthew brought 3 and a half feet of flood waters, but Florence could be worse,

“We had two and a half feet in the house and SLED knocked on our door yesterday, and said this time it’s going to be 2 and half feet higher than Matthew so we’re looking at 4 and a half feet in our house,” said Autz.

Many people here are just getting back on their feet two years later.

“We just rebuilt the whole house and about 95 percent. Still working on it, so we might have to do it all over again,” said Pete Barees Jr.

“Right now, I’m taking everything out. Last time, two years ago with Matthew, I put new carpet in here in every room. I’ve renewed 4 ft. up every wall. I just finished everything like two months ago. It took me two year because I did it myself,” said Saury Avalos.

Teachers from Socastee Elementary School and members of Palmetto Shores Church walked around the neighborhood asking if anyone needed boxes or help packing their belongings.

Horry County Police were around the neighborhood seeing who was staying and who was leaving.
