HORRY COUNTY, SC (WBTW) – The northern Horry County community of Green Sea is almost completely cut off by flooded roads from Hurricane Florence.

State highway 9, which makes Green Sea’s main intersection with state highway 410, was under feet of water Monday. Many of the rural roads nearby were also closed because they’re flooded, severely restricting access to green sea.

A dive team from Greenville County was spotted exploring state highway 19 near Barnhill Road, which was flooded by more than two feet of water. On state highway 410, two vehicles next to a mobile home were submerged in feet of water too. Crews also performed multiple water rescues in Loris on Sunday night.

A Green Sea resident who evacuated to Charlotte says people living in unincorporated parts of the county need more attention as flood levels in several rivers are forecasted to keep rising this week.

“They’re stranded out there when they close the roads and things off,” said Jeff Gregg. “When they’ve lost their power, most people have wells, so they can’t get water out of their wells because there’s no power.”

Gregg is also raising money on Facebook for Hurricane Florence victims in places like Green Sea.
